while on night call today, a house officer asked me how i felt about medicine so far. i said err i'm getting a bit sian.

then he said, " wait till you become a HO(house officer), then you lose all your original ideals, excitement and ambitions of being a doctor. you work freaking long hours, get scolded by your superiors, work like a dog, get paid less than those working part-time at macdonalds, don't get to sleep regular hours, and get lotsa pimples from all the stress and irregular hours."
