Thank God it's Friday! i've been really looking forward to this weekend... especially my saturday mornings. i must get it right. wake up early, going for a nice breakfast while reading the straits times. so i should sleep early tonight. anyway, i just watched 2 shows.

1) channel 8 nine oclock show.
2) We Are Marshall. (HBO)

1) i really applaud the singapore health promotion board to think of coming up with a show to talk about the public's perception of people infected with HIV. For once, the government's efforts to educate the public using tv shows are actually really meaningful and much needed! the movie really does show how cruel our Singaporean society is, and in general, society as a whole. When we see or know of pple with HIV, we flee them like the plague or sth. yet when Jesus came, These were the people he was particularly interested in. in my personal experience in the hospitals, my friends and fellow medical students have a really negative attitude towards these people. after talking and examining a patient, upon realising that he is HIV positive, they go like ZOMGWhattheblablabla. and then go wash their hands furiously and stuff. i mean ok la i can't remember if i've examined a hiv positive guy, i probably have but eh that's not the way to treat people la. i think this channel 8 is a good reminder to me about how i should approach people who have a disease, whether it be HIV, i dunno, whatever diseases u have. we must learn to have compassion on them like how Jesus had compassion on the peoples. and as i watched it i also reminded myself about how i should approach people who have a disease, especially if i am to go to a place like africa next time.
oh btw i saw rui en on the show and wow she seemed to have changed and i was thinking to myself actually her character on the show is the type of girl i might like. haha but it was only my first time watching the show la.

2) WE ARE MARSHALL
this is my second time watching this show. the first was in malaysia during the 3 cords form a string (sth like that) church camp. jeremy and gabriel were asleep in the room alr and i was the only one enthralled by the show. and after watching it again, i can tell you that i got the goosebumps again man. especially my favourite scene when the coach prep talked the football players before their match against xavier uinversity. when they shouted we are... Marshall, we are... Marshall, this strong warm feeling just welled up inside of me man. my mom who also watched halfway like me started crying la haha. that's how moving and wow inspiring it was. it made me think of all the inspiring movies i watched, like men of honour, rocky, cool runnings, you don't mess with the zohan. haha kidding on the last one. anyway. i remember in sec 2 before our cross country competition, our coach made us watched this videos the days leading up to competition and man we chinese high cross country boys were PSYCHED AND FIRED UP MAN. i remember those days fondly when i ran 7 days a week and seriously my life was running running running. and wow in sec 2 when we won the cross country C div championships by 2 pts i can't even say how happy i was. we were so FREAKING HAPPY.. ALL OUR TRAININGS PAID OFF! and i always tell my friends this story, and i will tell my children and grandkids this story too. at macritchie, leading up to the last stretch, there was a Cat High runner in front of me. and as we entered into the road inside macritichie there was about 800m left. my coach was standing there and he was screaming at me ," OVERTAKE HIM!! OVERTAKE HIM!!" and i can tell you that during the 4.8km race, i basically ran like 90% of my energy out in the first 2.4 km. and the 2nd 2.4 km i was in like overdrive alr. and by then i was like going to die alr. i remember telling myself. i'm never going to do this again. but anyway, i closed my eyes, and just ran as hard as i could, and nearing the finishing line, i saw that i had overtook the cat high guy. and so i crossed the finishing line.
after that , i found out that we won cat high by 2 points. had i not overtaken him, we would have tied with cat high. and then cat high would have won, cos their fastest runner was 2nd place, and our fastest runner was 3rd place. wow wow wow. haha i was a major contributor to my team's success can.

anyway, all i can say now is. i love sports, sports rule. be it rugby, soccer, tennis, basketball, marathon, canoeing, they totally rock my world.
